Youth-Nominated Support Team for Probation (YST-P) to Prevent Suicide
This study is testing a program called Youth-Nominated Support Team for Probation (YST-P) for young people aged 12-17 who are on probation and experiencing thoughts of suicide or suicidal behaviors. The goal of YST-P is to use existing relationships to help these young people and connect them with mental health care. We want to see if YST-P can reduce suicidal thoughts and behaviors, and if it helps young people attend mental health services. This study is for young people on probation in Suffolk County and Nassau County, New York, who have a caregiver willing to participate and are conversational in English. We will measure suicidal thoughts and behaviors at the start, after 3 months of the program, and 6 months later.
