Digitally Enhanced Community Health Worker Intervention for Pancreatic Cancer

This study is looking at whether a program led by a community health worker (CHW) can help people newly diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The CHW will help you with concerns about your quality of life, including physical, spiritual, social, and psychological needs, and assist with scheduling appointments and telehealth. This program is called PAL-CHW-PDAC. The study will compare this program to usual care, which includes referrals to specialists but also involves attention from a study coordinator. The main goal is to see if the CHW program improves your symptoms and quality of life, and if it helps caregivers too. We plan to enroll 60 adults between 18 and 90 years old who speak English or Spanish and have newly diagnosed pancreatic adenocarcinoma (a type of pancreatic cancer) or a suspected pancreatic mass. Eligibility criteria

Inclusion

Age 18 to 90
English or Spanish-Speaking
Diagnosed with Newly-Diagnosed Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma or has a pancreatic mass on CT/MRI with suspected PDAC and is awaiting biopsy.
Able to communicate verbally to allow for audio recording to complete an exit interview
Must be able to consent
