Acceptability of Soy Milk in NYC Public Schools

This observational study is looking at how well students in 11 New York City Public Schools accept soy milk as a drink option. Researchers want to see if students choose and drink soy milk when it's offered alongside regular cow's milk. They will also look at whether offering soy milk reduces milk waste and its potential effects on the environment, nutrition, and cost. The study will measure how much soy milk is accepted over a four-week period in the spring and fall of 2026. Students aged 5 to 18 years who attend the participating schools and choose to join can take part, as long as they don't have a soy allergy. Success for this study means students will accept and drink soy milk.

Study design
This is an observational study involving about 2500 students. It will compare how much cow's milk is consumed before and after soy milk is offered.
What's involved
You would be offered soy milk to taste during a four-week period. You would also be offered a sticker for tasting the soy milk.
Compensation
Not stated in the trial record.
Follow-up
The primary measurement of soy milk acceptability will be taken at 4 weeks.
