Eating Disorder Dynamic Intervention for Eating Disorders

This study is testing a smartphone program called the Eating Disorder Dynamic Intervention to help people with eating disorders in their daily lives. The program uses brief surveys about your mood, thoughts, and behaviors, and also collects activity data from your phone. The goal is to understand when you might be at higher risk for behaviors like restricting food or binge eating, and then send you helpful suggestions at those times. This study is for adults aged 18-70 who have experienced at least 12 eating disorder behaviors in the past 12 weeks and own a smartphone. Researchers will measure how well the program predicts these behaviors and how effective it is in reducing them over several weeks.

    Acceptability will be evaluated via the Feasibility and Acceptability Questionnaire. These data will be collected after participants have completed the 16 weeks of data collection using the EDDI app. Mean ratings ≥ 5 (on the seven-point Likert rating scales) on acceptability items will be considered to indicate acceptability. The response scale is as follows: 1=Strongly Disagree 2=Disagree 3=Disagree a little 4=Neither agree nor disagree 5=Agree a little 6=Agree 7=Strongly Agree, with higher scores indicating greater acceptability.

  • System Usability ScaleEnd of study assessment (after week 16 of data collection)

    Acceptability will be evaluated via the System Usability Scale. These data will be collected after participants have completed the 16 weeks of data collection using the EDDI app. Mean ratings ≥ 4 (on the five-point Likert rating scale) on System Usability Scale items will be considered to indicate acceptability. The response scale runs from 1 = Strongly Disagree (minimum value) to 5 = Strongly Agree (maximum value), with higher ratings indicating greater usability.
