Dietary Tracking in Heart Failure
This observational study is looking at how much ultraprocessed food (UPF) people with heart failure eat and if they can reduce it. UPFs are foods high in unhealthy fats, sugar, and salt, which can worsen heart failure. You would track your food intake using a mobile app (Cronometer) for 28 days, aiming to eat fewer UPFs. The study is for adults (18 and older) with NYHA Class II or III heart failure (meaning your heart failure symptoms affect your daily activities) who can use the app and prepare their own food. You cannot join if you've had a heart transplant, an LVAD (a heart pump), or have severe kidney disease (eGFR less than 30). The researchers will measure your UPF consumption over 5 years to see if it changes.
- Study design
- This is an observational study with 60 participants. It is not specified if it is randomized or blinded.
- What's involved
- You would be advised on ways to limit ultraprocessed foods and track your diet using the Cronometer mobile app for 28 days.
- Compensation
- Not stated in the trial record.
- Follow-up
- The study will track changes in ultraprocessed food consumption for 5 years.

What this trial measures
- Document Ultraprocessed Food (UPF) Consumption in HF5 years
To improve understanding of UPF consumption (type(s), amount(s), etc.) in patients with heart failure
- Change in ultraprocessed food (UPF) consumption in heart failure patients5 Years
To investigate the potential for reducing UPF consumption via dietary counseling, Cronometer tracking, and structured patient feedback.
