MoDi Twin Placental Imaging Study
This study is looking at new ways to image the placenta in pregnant individuals carrying monochorionic twins (identical twins who share a placenta). Researchers are using a special ultrasound device called the Verasonics Vantage 256 to take detailed images of the placenta. This device uses ultrafast power Doppler imaging (uPDI) and quantitative ultrasound (QUS). The goal is to see if this imaging can help understand conditions like Twin-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS), which can happen when twins share a placenta and blood flow is uneven. You may be able to join if you are 18-45 years old, pregnant with monochorionic twins, and plan to deliver at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital or Carilion New River Valley Medical Center.
