Measuring Knee Looseness in ACL-Deficient Patients

This observational study is looking at adults with an ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) tear to see if a special device, called the Robotic Knee Testing system, can accurately measure how loose their knee is. The main goal is to compare the measurements from this robotic system with what doctors find during a "pivot shift" exam, which checks for knee instability. You might be able to join if you are an adult between 18 and 65 years old, have a confirmed ACL tear, and can give your consent. You cannot join if you've had major knee surgery before, have other knee ligament injuries, an infection, or are pregnant. The study aims to see if the robotic system can reliably detect the same knee instability that doctors observe.

Study design
This is an observational study with 25 participants. It is not a treatment study, but rather aims to understand how a robotic system measures knee movement.

Inclusion

Adults aged 18-65 years
Confirmed ACL tear by MRI or arthroscopic diagnosis
Able to provide informed consent

Exclusion

Prior major surgery on the affected knee
Multi-ligament knee injury
Active infection or inflammatory arthropathy
Inability to tolerate passive motion testing
Pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the study period
Unable to provide informed consent
