Intraoperative Neuromonitoring for Sacral Surgery
This study is looking at how well monitoring your sacral reflexes (nerve responses in the lower spine) during surgery (intraoperative neuromonitoring) can predict your function after surgery. This is for patients having surgery to remove part of their lower spine (sacrectomy) due to pelvic bone cancer, or those having other spinal procedures without sacral nerve involvement. These surgeries can sometimes affect nerves that control leg movement, and bowel, bladder, and sexual function. By monitoring these reflexes during surgery, doctors hope to get real-time information about nerve function. The main goal is to see if we can reliably get and understand these reflex responses during surgery. You would undergo standard surgery and intraoperative nerve monitoring, and complete surveys. This study is for adults aged 18 and older who are having surgery at City of... and are willing to complete study questionnaires.

- Reproducible and interpretable bulbocavernosus reflex (BCR) and external urethral sphincter (EUS) reflex responses (feasibility)From baseline, Up to 1 year
Reproducible is defined as the ability to elicit a reflex response on repeated stimulation with consistent waveform presence and morphology at a given timepoint. Interpretable is defined as a recorded reflex response that is distinguishable from background noise and artifact and permits determination of response presence or absence and measurement of latency and amplitude. A two-sided 95% Clopper-Pearson confidence interval will be provided as a measure of precision.
