Ecological Momentary Cognitive Assessment for Older Adults
This study is looking at how daily physical activity affects thinking skills (cognition) in older adults. If you join, you'll first complete some thinking tests and surveys. Then, for one week, you'll wear an activity tracker and do four short thinking tests and surveys each day. After that, for two more weeks, you'll continue the daily tests and surveys while also trying two different ways to be more active: one week of supervised exercise at a center (Exercise) and one week focused on increasing your daily steps and avoiding long periods of sitting (Daylong Movement). The study aims to see how your daily thinking performance changes over these three weeks. You might be able to join if you are 65 or older, speak English, own a smartphone, and can walk without help from others (a cane or walker is okay).
- Study design
- This is an interventional study with 30 planned participants. It is not specified if the study is randomized or blinded.
- What's involved
- You will complete initial tests and surveys, wear an activity monitor, and complete four cognitive tests and surveys daily for three weeks. This includes one week of supervised exercise at a research center and one week of increasing daily movement.
- Compensation
- Not stated in the trial record.
- Follow-up
- Your daily cognitive performance will be measured from the start of the control week to the end of your participation at 3 weeks.

What this trial measures
- Daily cognitive performanceFrom start of control week to the end of participation at 3 weeks.
Average performance on ecological momentary cognitive tasks, completed up to 4 times daily: color trick (inhibition), 2-back (working memory), hand swype (task switching)
