Combined Neuromodulation and Cognitive Training for Post-mTBI Depression

This study is testing if a combination of Personalized, Augmented Cognitive Training (PACT) and intermittent theta burst stimulation (iTBS) can help treat depression in people who have had a mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), also known as a concussion. You could be eligible if you are 18 to 65 years old, have a history of mTBI, and are a military service member or civilian receiving treatment at NMCSD or UCSD Health. Participants will receive PACT along with either iTBS or a sham (inactive) iTBS over four weeks. Researchers will measure changes in depression using the Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression over eight weeks to see if the PACT+iTBS combination is more effective. The study is currently recruiting 72 participants.

Study design
This interventional study plans to enroll 72 participants. It compares two groups: one receiving PACT plus iTBS, and another receiving PACT plus sham iTBS.
What's involved
You would receive 6 sessions of PACT and 20 sessions of iTBS or sham iTBS over 4 weeks. Assessments will take place at baseline, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and 8 weeks.
Compensation
Not stated in the trial record.
Follow-up
