Evaluating the Impact of Social Music on Mental Health

This study is looking at how listening to music with another person might affect mental health, especially for People of African Descent (PADs) who may experience higher stress. Researchers will have 48 participants, aged 16 and older, listen to different types of music (some with normal harmonies, some with scrambled harmonies) while sitting across from another person. The main goal is to measure brain activity (EEG gamma and theta activity) during and after music listening to see if there are changes. This research aims to understand if music can help reduce stress and increase feelings of connection, potentially offering a new way to support mental well-being.
