This study aims to improve early language development in young children whose parents have a substance use disorder (SUD). Children of parents with SUD can be at higher risk for language delays. This research will test if adding extra support to a group-based parenting program, called Comilia Group, helps children's language more than the group alone. The additional supports are Interaction Review Enhancement (individual coaching with a speech-language pathologist) and Practical Support Enhancement (sessions to help overcome challenges in using communication strategies). We are looking for 244 parents who have a history of SUD or active use in the past year, and who are caring for a child between 12 and 42 months old. The study will measure how responsive parents are to their children at different times to see if the interventions are successful. The current recruitment status is unclear.

Study design
